Dutch is the language of instruction right from the start of the first lesson. The language courses concentrate on communication, and that means that the Dutch learnt is actively practised during class!

Themes that will be dealt with include introducing yourself, ordering something in a café or restaurant, making an appointment, making suggestions, buying something at the market, asking the way and visiting the doctor or bike shop. This Dutch beginners' course at level 0 > A1 is intended for participants who speak little or no Dutch.

This course is openly accessible to UG staff and students as well as external parties. International students, PhDs' and postdocs of the University of Groningen are being offered these Dutch courses at the Language Centre by the Board of the University of Groningen. Read everything about these regulations and see if it applies to you here.

Study load
This is an intensive two-week course. You will have lessons on four days each week. In addition, you should count on a total of about 30 hours of self-study.

Advice
If you want to register for a course at this level and you have not followed a course with the Language Centre before, you must visit the office hour. You can only register for this course if you have been given the matching advice. UG students, external students and UG staff can register directly for a beginners' course without having to receive an advice first.

The atmosphere during the lessons was very fun and pleasant, making mistakes did not feel uncomfortable at all. Also, the teacher made the topics we covered very interesting!
