Can you already speak a bit of Dutch at language level A1 and do you want to learn the language even better? Then this is the right course for you! During the lessons, you will actively practice the Dutch language. You will learn how to speak Dutch in various situations, such as at the doctor’s, when talking to a real estate agent, at the bike shop, at a birthday party, on the street, and conversations with friends and housemates. This course not only makes communicating with colleagues easier but also provides you with the opportunity to get to know other UG staff members!

At the Language Centre, you will learn Dutch at a fast pace with the help of teaching methods we developed ourselves. Our language courses focus on speaking and understanding the Dutch language. This way, you will quickly start to feel more or less at home with the language, and you naturally expand your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for UG staff members with an elementary level of Dutch at CEFR level A1. During the course, we work towards level A2. The course is taught in Dutch as much as possible, with explanations provided in English when necessary. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.

Plan a consultation
Have you not taken a Dutch course at the Language Centre before? Then it is mandatory to first take a consultation with one of our teachers.

What is the study load of the course?

The course comprises 12 lessons. Each lesson lasts two hours in a course on location, and 1.5 hours in an online course. You should expect to spend a total of 30 hours on independent study in order to stay on track with this course. What will you be able to do after the course?
  • Talk about something you have done or experienced
  • Indicate what is wrong with your bike
  • Express your opinion
