If you are looking to boost your confidence during presentations, this course is for you. It is designed to help students, university staff, teachers, and professionals improve their presentation skills. Through a combination of theory, practice, and feedback, participants will develop confidence and refine their ability to deliver effective presentations. This Academic presentations course is designed to turn brilliant research into compelling academic performance.

This course is intended for participants with an upper-intermediate level of English at CEFR level B2, or higher.

What will you learn in this course?
In this course, you’ll learn how to structure presentations tailored to your audience’s needs, rather than simply delivering information to them. You’ll learn how to open with authority and build a narrative that makes even theory feel purposeful and memorable. You’ll develop strategies for presenting methods and results with confidence, responding to difficult questions without panic, and staying in control under pressure.
This course isn’t intended to provide generic public speaking-advice. It’s built specifically for academic candidates. That means working with real conference-style PowerPoint presentations, real academic time limits, and real scholarly audiences. You’ll practice explaining your work to specialists and non-specialists without dumbing it down or hiding behind jargon.
A core part of the course is hands-on practice. Each participant delivers two full PowerPoint presentations during the course. Both presentations are filmed, and you’ll receive your own personal video recordings. This allows you to see exactly how you come across with regards to your clarity, presence, pacing, and authority and track your progress from first presentation to the second.
Alongside this, you’ll develop the academic presence every successful researcher needs: vocal control, emphasis, body language, and the ability to hold a room without feeling like you’re performing a personality that isn’t yours.
By the end of the course, you won’t just have better presentations, you’ll have a repeatable system you can use for conferences or within your own field.

How many hours of independent study are required?
You should expect to spend approximately 3–5 hours per lesson on independent study.
