Who is this course for?

This course is for beginners. During the course, we work towards CEFR level A1. The course is taught in German as much as possible, with explanations provided in English or Dutch when necessary. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English or Dutch in order to participate in the course.

What will you learn in this course?

The course comprises 12 lessons of two contact hours, and during the course you will learn, among other things:

• Important everyday phrases
• Numbers up to 1000
• Verbs in the present and past tense
• Possessive pronouns

How many hours of independent study are required?

You should expect to spend a total of 30 hours on independent study in order to stay on track with the course. Each week, you are expected to go through the lesson material, learn and practise the vocabulary, complete the grammar exercises and pay sufficient attention to your listening and reading skills. 

What will you be able to do after the course?

• Introducing yourself and others 
• Asking and answering questions
• Understand and tell the time
• Understand short conversations on everyday topics

After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the follow-up course German A1>A2.
