Online Dutch B2>B2/C1

At the Language Centre, you will learn Dutch at a fast pace with the help of teaching methods we developed ourselves. Our language courses focus on speaking and understanding the Dutch language. This way, you will quickly start to feel more or less at home with the language, and you naturally expand your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.

How does the course work?

The course is based on a structured eight-week self-study module. There are therefore no weekly lessons. Every Thursday, you will receive a new programme in the online learning environment, containing assignments to be completed that week as follows:

• Independent tasks: Reading and listening to dialogues, learning new vocabulary, studying grammar and completing exercises where you can check your own answers.
• Tasks with a conversation partner: you’ll work on your speaking skills through tandem tasks with a fellow student or someone outside the course.
• Assignments with feedback: you’ll complete a speaking or writing assignment on which you’ll receive feedback from a teacher, or you’ll take part in online group sessions with 3–4 fellow students and a teacher, during which you’ll practise your speaking skills and receive immediate feedback. The four online sessions will be scheduled in consultation with you, so that you can take part from anywhere in the world.

There is an online discussion forum where you can ask a teacher questions and discuss topics with fellow students. You can also take tests. To stay on track with the course, you expect to spend 8–10 hours of self-study per week.

Who is this course intended for?

Online Dutch B2>B2/C1 is intended for beginners of Dutch at CEFR level B2. The course is entirely taught online on Brightspace, the online learning platform of the University of Groningen. Therefore, it is important that you have a reliable internet connection and well-functioning video and audio settings. 

Test your level
Are you unsure if this level is suitable for you? You can easily test your language level online with the placement test or the ‘Self-evaluate your language skills tool’. You can also make an appointment for an online consultation to receive personal advice from our teacher. This consultation is not mandatory for the Online Dutch courses.

Reimbursements
Unfortunately, no reimbursements are available from DUO or the University of Groningen (UG) for the Online Dutch courses. Please see our range of courses for civic integration candidates or for UG students, PhD students, and postdocs.

• More complex expressions and word combinations
• To structure words and the use of the word ‘er’
• To use new grammar, such as indirect speech and the imperative

• Speak Dutch fluently and confidently
• Express yourself well both formally and informally
• Participate in group discussions with colleagues and acquaintances, even when they speak quickly 
• Engage in conversations and read texts on a wide range of topics

After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the follow-up course Online Dutch B2/C1>C1.

This book also comprises an individual login code for a website containing additional exercises, listening fragments, videos, and songs. You will need this code to be able to actively participate in the course. You can also purchase the code separately.
