Have you reached Dutch level B1, but still find it difficult to speak and write Dutch correctly? Dutch grammar isn’t easy, and you need a lot of practice before it becomes automatic. This course can help you with that. You’ll review the most important grammatical structures independently and at your own pace. You’ll practice your skills through reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The wide variety of exercises keeps things fun, and you’ll notice your skills improving naturally as a result!
Who is this course for?
This course is intended for participants with an intermediate level Dutch at CEFR level B1. The course material is in Dutch. You will practise applying various grammatical structures that have been covered at the B1 level, where additional practice can help you use them correctly.
What will you learn in this course?
You’ll practise six different grammatical structures:
sentences with inversion
subordinate clauses
sentences with multiple verbs
verb tenses
separable and reflexive verbs
sentences with ‘er’
How many hours of independent study are required?
You’ll complete this training entirely independently, at your own pace and in your own time. You have access to the course for six months and can decide for yourself which grammatical structures you want to spend the most time on. You can choose to do a few exercises every day or for example, once a week if that works better for you. You can complete all the exercises in approximately 24 hours in total, which comes down to about an hour a week. The more you repeat them, the more you’ll improve!
What will you be able to do after the course?
After the course, you’ll be able to speak and write Dutch more quickly, easily, and accurately. You’ll spend less time thinking about how to form a subordinate clause or a sentence with inversion, and when to use ‘er’. You’ll also automatically use separable and reflexive verbs correctly. This will allow you to progress to an even higher level with greater confidence.
Course material
All course materials are available online, so you don’t need to purchase any additional materials. However, we do recommend keeping a journal to practise your writing skills even more.
