The online exam training of the Language Centre of the University of Groningen prepares you for the reading, listening, speaking, and writing exams. In addition to completing independent assignments from the course materials, you will receive guidance from our teachers. Besides, you can work on speaking and writing assignments together with fellow participants! 
Who is this course for?

The online exam training is intended for students who have completed a Dutch course up to CEFR level B2 at the Language Centre or have reached this level by other means and want to extensively practise for the NT2 State Program II. The content is entirely focused on the State Exam and not intended to improve your general language skills. The course comprises weekly online sessions and is offered in Brightspace, the online learning environment of the University of Groningen. It is important that you have a reliable internet connection and properly functioning video and audio equipment.

Reimbursements
This course can not be reimbursed by DUO, the plus course can be reimbursed by DUO.

What will you learn in this course? 
  • You expand your vocabulary. 
  • You gain insight into the testing methods and assessment standards for writing and speaking skills. 
  • You learn strategies for answering questions in the reading and listening sections. 
  • You familiarize yourself with the use of a dictionary during the exam. 
How is the course structured?

Course schedule
The online State Exam training course lasts six weeks. Each week, you will receive assignments to complete independently. In weeks 2 and 5, there are interactive group sessions with one of our instructors and several fellow course participants. In the final week, you will take the full 2017 exam, including all skills, and receive feedback on it. 

Self-study
You will complete most of the training course independently. To stay on track with the course, you should plan for eight hours of self-study per week. Self-study consists of completing the weekly assignments. You are free to allocate your time per skill as needed, depending on where you feel you need more training. Additionally, there are assignments you can work on with a fellow course participant. 

Guidance
During the group sessions in weeks 2 and 5, there is room for questions, and you will practise small parts of the exam. You will receive personal guidance from the instructor. We use Skype for the online meetings. 

What will you be able to do after the course?
  • You will know what to expect during the exam and you will have a clear idea of your chances of success.
  • You will be able to practise independently with materials in preparation for the exam.
  • You will have significantly improved the four skills and their associated characteristics.

After completing this course, you will be well-prepared to take the State Exam NT2-II! 

Course material

You do not need to purchase any materials for this course. The course materials primarily consist of past exams, which will be distributed during the lessons. 

Dictionary
During the Reading and Writing parts of the exam, you are allowed to use the Van Dale Pocket Dictionary of Dutch as a Second Language. The course will include instructions on how to use this dictionary.
