Do you already know a little Chinese and want to build your confidence before advancing to the next level? Whether you would like to be able to talk about yourself more easily, recognize more Chinese characters, or expand your everyday vocabulary, this 4-day Chinese language booster is the perfect way to achieve that!

In a relaxed and supportive environment, you will practice your Chinese with your teacher and fellow students. You will discover that improving your language skills can be fun, engaging, and motivating.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for participants who speak Chinese at CEFR level pre-A1 or A1. The course is taught in Chinese as much as possible,with explanations provided in Dutch or English depending on the group participants. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.

What will you learn in this course?

During four lively 3-hour lessons, you will build your speaking skills through engaging activities such as:

  • Role plays and language games
  • Mini-dialogues
  • Vocabulary and pronunciation exercises
  • Exercises to help you recognize and understand important Chinese characters from everyday life

These activities will help you expand your vocabulary, improve your grasp of key grammar rules, and refine your pronunciation.

How many hours of independent study are required?

Between classes, you will review short reading passages, dialogues, and vocabulary lists provided by your teacher. You will also prepare a short reading or speaking assignment for the final session. You should expect to spend a total of 18 hours on self-study to keep up with the course.

What will you be able to do after the course?

By the end of the Speak Up! Chinese elementary course, you will feel much more confident speaking Chinese in everyday life. You will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself and greet someone without hesitations
  • Take part in simple conversations about yourself, your plans, and your surroundings
  • Order food and drinks in cafés and restaurants
  • Feel ready and motivated to move on to the next level of Chinese
