Are you already able to express yourself well in Italian and do you enjoy the language so much that you want to learn more? Then this Italian course of the University of Groningen Language Centre is the right course for you. During the lessons, we will focus less on grammar and more on interaction and culture. Starting from this level, our enthusiastic Italian teacher will almost exclusively speak Italian to you to give you the full Italian experience, without setting a foot outside Groningen!
Who is this course for?

This course is for participants at a pre-intermediate level of Italian at CEFR level A2. During the course, we work towards level A2/B1. The course is taught in Italian as much as possible,with explanations provided in Dutch or English depending on the group participants. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.

What will you learn in this course?

The course comprises 12 lessons of two contact hours, and during the course you will learn, among other things:

  • More vocabulary and a deepening of your grammar knowledge
  • Italian proverbs and idioms
  • Complex tenses, such as the conditional and pronominal verbs
How many hours of independent study are required?

You should expect to spend a total of 30 hours on independent study in order to stay on track with the course. This involves, for example, doing writing assignments and grammar and vocabulary exercises.

What will you be able to do after the course?
  • You will be able to express yourself well in Italian about various topics, such as sports, health, art, and the environment.
  • You are able to put into words your wishes, dreams, and expectations.
  • You are able to express your opinion.
  • You are able to follow the main story lines of series and films.

After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the follow-up course Italian A2/B1>B1. You could also choose the Speak Up! Italian pre-intermediate course, which focuses entirely on speaking.
