Who is this course for?
This course is for participants at a pre-intermediate level of Spanish at CEFR level A2/B1. During the course, we work towards intermediate level B1. The course is taught in Spanish as much as possible, with explanations provided in Dutch or English depending on the group participants. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.
If you are unsure whether this level is right for you, you can test yourself online using the placement test! Alternatively, make an appointment for the online consultation to get personal advice from our teacher.
What will you learn in this course?
The course consists of 12 lessons of two hours each, during which the following topics will be covered:
- Indirect style
- Key connectors for expressing cause and consequence
- How to combine past tenses (pretérito perfecto, indefinido, imperfecto en pluscuamperfecto) in narratives
- Use of indicative and subjunctive moods
- Spelling skills: distinguishing between "g" and "j," and "b" and "v.", etc.
How many hours of independent study are required?
You should expect to spend a total of 30 hours on independent study in order to stay on track with the course. This involves, for example, completing assignments from the book and on the digital platform Campus Difusión. You will also receive additional material, such as news articles, podcasts, videos, and websites to read, listen to, or watch. All four skills – reading, speaking, writing, and listening – will be covered in your self-study.
What will you be able to do after the course?
- Communicate effectively in professional and personal contexts
- Navigate phone calls, emails and video calls in Spanish with confidence
- Express interests and feelings, and show disagreement tactfully
- Express opinions about actions and behaviors, and make hypotheses and conjectures
After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the Spanish B1>B1/B2 follow-up course. You could also choose the Speak Up! Spanish pre-intermediate course, which focuses entirely on speaking.
