This German course is ideal if you already have a basic knowledge of German, but this knowledge has slipped a bit. With this course from the University of Groningen Language Centre, you will refresh your German and take your German language skills to the next level.
Who is this course for?

This course is for participants at a pre-intermediate level of German at CEFR level A2. During the course, we work towards level A2/B1. The course is taught in German as much as possible, with explanations provided in English or Dutch when necessary. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.

What will you learn in this course?

The course comprises 12 lessons of two contact hours, and during the course you will learn, among other things:

  • Verbs with fixed prepositions 
  • Clauses using dass and infinitive constructions
  • The passive voice
  • Polite requests using the Konjunktiv II
How many hours of independent study are required?

You should expect to spend a total of 30 hours on independent study in order to stay on track with the course.  Each week, you are expected to go through the lesson material, learn and practise the vocabulary, complete the grammar exercises and pay sufficient attention to your listening and reading skills.

After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the follow-up course German A2/B1>B1. You could also choose the Speak Up! German pre-intermediate course, which focuses entirely on speaking.
