Do you already speak a little bit of Spanish and would you like to continue learning this beautiful language? With this Spanish beginners course at the University of Groningen Language Centre, you will learn about the Spanish language and culture at a high pace. We offer Spanish courses both on location in Groningen and online. Our teaching method for the Spanish beginners course focuses on speaking and understanding the Spanish language. With this method, you will quickly feel at home in this beautiful language and you will automatically expand your grammar knowledge and vocabulary.
Who is this course for?
This course is for beginners of Spanish at CEFR level A1. During the course, we work towards pre-intermediate level A2. The course is taught in Spanish as much as possible, with explanations provided in Dutch or English depending on the group participants. It is therefore important that you have a good command of English in order to participate in the course.

What will you learn in this course?
The course comprises 12 lessons. One lesson lasts two hours in a course on location and 1.5 hours in an online course. During the course, you will learn, among other things:
How to use the verb saber
More vocabulary
To make comparisons and to point out similarities and differences
The past tenses: pretérito perfecto, indefinido, and imperfecto
The imperative and simple present
How many hours of independent study are required?
To properly keep up with the course, you will have to take into account a total of 30 hours of self-study for this course on location, or 36 hours of self-study for the online course. Self-study mainly comprises grammar exercises, vocabulary development, and listening exercises. You will also be asked to do a reading or writing exercise every now and again.

After successfully completing this course, you will be ready for the Spanish A2>A2/B1 follow-up course. You could also do the Conversational Spanish elementary course which fully focuses on speaking.
